Max Cleans

WOD:
1,1,1...work up to max clean.
Max: 85. Failed at 90, 3x.

I hate cleans. I don't know the movement well and even when I try to make my body move the way it should, it doesn't. I can't get the grip right either. Needless to say, any workout with a clean in it makes me cringe.

Despite my whining, there was progress today. I actually did a 80# squat clean, but was only able to do 85# at the high hang clean. New Goal: Clean 100# by August. This will force me to "work the weakness".

No extra work today. I am unusually sore from yesterday. Maybe I'll hit the pool for a few laps tonight if it doesn't rain...

Tell Sean to go away, I'm way cooler... I can see you've been listening to me too long... working the weakness... LOL. :) I love it! :)

Cleans are a complicated movement. As Jerry was saying this morning, there are 800 different cues he could give. Hand placement is important, set up is important, height of hips is important, grip is important, the pull is important, the extension is important, the open hips are important... WHAAAAA! There are a lot of things to think of, and get used to. Give yourself some time and you WILL get it...

Yea! I have a few more followers. :) It is kinda nice to put all this hard work on "paper". I'm starting to think I'm bordering on "fanatic" now training for a tri and crossfit, etc, then writing about it. At least I know I'm not alone! :)

Oh, and just wait for the trail running stories-lost in the woods, falling into the potomac...good times!

LOL. I can hardly wait! I love good stories.

Just to help you keep things in perspective I want you to go watch this video... look at the people in it, and listen to the background conversation...
